Registration and abstract submission

The online application to the YSF 2010 is open December 1, 2009 – February 22, 2010. The application must include a completed application form, proof of your membership of a FEBS Constituent Society or FEBS Associated Member, your Curriculum Vitae and an abstract.

The abstract should be of maximum 280 words (2000 characters including spaces) and in English.

The applications will be peer reviewed and 120 applicants (5 non-European) will be selected. You will present your work through either a short talk or a poster which will be displayed throughout the meeting. Posters will be announced for 1 minute and presented at longer poster sessions.

Requirements for Application

Applicants have to meet certain criteria to be eligible for participation:

• All applicants must submit an abstract as the first author.

• The applicant should be, or have been a student at an institution of higher education in a country where there is a FEBS Constituent Society or in a country that is a FEBS Associated Member;

• The applicant should either be a Ph.D. student or a postdoctoral fellow within 3 years after obtaining his/her Ph.D.

• The applicant must be a member of a FEBS Constituent Society or FEBS Associated Member.

• The applicant must not have previously attended a FEBS YSF meeting.

• The applicant should not have received a grant from the Youth Travel Fund to attend an Advanced Course in the current year.

• Non-European applicants have to be members of the IUBMB constituent society.

If you do not have a valid FEBS membership, please contact a corresponding organization in your country of origin.

When applying for the YSF you will automatically be considered for the FEBS congress as well. If your application for the YSF is not successful and you still want apply for the FEBS congress, you will be allowed to apply at the later date of March 31 with the lowest registration fee. The fact that you applied to the YSF before February 20 will be taken into consideration.

The YSF 2010 grant

Expenses for the accepted applicants will be completely covered during the four day symposium, the YSF 2010 conference held at Hindåsgården on the 23-26 of June 2010. This includes accommodation (in shared rooms) and meals during the stay, as well as the planned social events with a Swedish Midsummer celebration. Travel grants will also contribute to the travel expenses to Gothenburg from the applicants’ current country of residence and cover the transport from the airport. Contributions up to 80% of the travel expenses for Western Europeans and 100% for Eastern Europeans is possible if the travel costs are kept at a minimum. Applicants are also attending the FEBS 2010 conference where they will present their research. The conference fee and accommodation at the venue, hotel Gothia Towers, during the FEBS Congress 2010 is included in the YSF grant.
